Things that are totally in my wheelhouse: comics, epic fantasy, silliness.
Things that describe Nimona: comics, epic fantasy, silliness.
Things that make me happy: Nimona.
Nimona is an impulsive young shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. Lord Ballister Blackheart is a villain with a vendetta. As sidekick and supervillain, Nimona and Lord Blackheart are about to wreak some serious havoc. Their mission: prove to the kingdom that Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin and his buddies at the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics aren’t the heroes everyone thinks they are.
But as small acts of mischief escalate into a vicious battle, Lord Blackheart realizes that Nimona’s powers are as murky and mysterious as her past. And her unpredictable wild side might be more dangerous than he is willing to admit.
What Intrigued Me: There are many things I can’t say no to: bloody marys, mint milanos, quirky humor, and clever epic fantasies. Add to that characters named “Ambrosius Goldenloin.” I will never find a name better than Ambrosius Goldenloin.
Note to self: name first born Ambrosius. Name second born Goldenloin.
What Hooked Me: What Nimona does so well is how it twists everything familiar. The villains are good, the heros are villains. It’s an epic fantasy with futuristic technology. Magic and science work hand in hand. It’s madness in the best way!
Also, Ambrosius Goldenloin. Never forget, Ambrosius Goldenloin.
What Made Me Fall In Love: Monster girls!
You know what’s really in my wheelhouse? Complex, real women. Because yes, even though Nimona can transform into a dragon, she’s real and multi-dimensional and such a badass.
Nimona is the hero and the villain. She’s a savior and a murderer. Also, she’s a shark. And that really is the important part.
